My little MacBook Air, now 18 months old, runs Aperture very nicely for travel
photography. There's not much space on-board (only about 18Gb free), but I
have a lovely fast 750Gb HDD (Lightning-to-Firewire800 bus-powered) on which I
store all the images, managed with Aperture.
It's my travel computer and work at work computer; and the display is very
smart.
But I'm sure that a cheaper netbook would be more satisfying to buy.
