I've never used an iPad before and, until yesterday, knew almost nothing about them. But I'm surrounded by hundreds of senior citizens from age 60 to 97 who know much less than I do. Since I've become the de facto go-to-guy for computer problems I got a call yesterday complaining about an iPad that... can't do anything and you can't type on it. That was certainly correct. A message had popped up announcing that the machine was in urgent need of backing up to the iCloud. That didn't go anywhere though. Trying to press the reply button or anything else was no more functional then pressing on a piece of 1x6 lumber. I don't know what happened but perhaps it was because no internet connection had yet been established with the RV Park's wi-fi service. I knew I needed to pull its feet out from under it but had no idea how to do that. So I headed off back to my own place and used my Winders machine to download the iPad user's manual. I think it was on page 127 where I discovered three progressively more violent ways to pull its feet out from under it. Well, it didn't respond at all to the two gentler methods so it was finally on the the full-blown reset. It seemed a bit confused on restarting but eventually pulled its act together. Not a particularly good introduction to the iPad. Chuck Norcutt On 1/29/2013 11:00 AM, Ken Norton wrote: > Last night I finally got around to doing something I've been putting off > for some time.
