Even with formal documents, Ed's habit of upgrading about weekly, from adding
new scanners to serious 'under the hood'
improvements means reading the release notes is at least useful, if not
necessary. I don't follow AG's program, and
upgrade every day, or week, or even month. I do try to check the release notes
regularly. If the notes don't show
anything of use to me, I don't bother to update.
In fact, I just updated, and added it as a monthly repeating event on my
calendar.

If you check his home page, you will find a formal book exists.

It does talk about Kodachrome IR cleaning, albeit briefly. I've temporarily put
a PDF of the relevant page on my site.

I found that PSCS6 didn't find my scanners under File=>Import, and finally
looked it up in Adobe online help. They
offered a plug-in that fixes that. What was interesting, though, was that they
say that they don't see PS as a scanning
tool, and recommend one use either VueScan (with link) or the software that
comes with the scanner for serious scanning.
FWIW, I was scanning some really seriously weak pencil writing, and the Canon
TWAIN driver did a much better job than
VS. at pulling it up.
