When my sons were young, one of the things that they collected during our
outings in the countryside were abandoned telephone insulators. I recall a
number of blue and clear glass specimens. Today, as I walked through the
garage, I spotted one on a high shelf.
In a quick Google search, I learned that this particular insulator was
manufactured by the millions to support long-distance telephone lines, with its
heavy lower shoulder designed to carry extra weight.
