Nor did I say it will ruin a lens. Just that there may be ingredients other
than isopropyl alcohol, so the possible
alternative may, or may not, be the same. There is also the question whether
the 'cloth' is less abrasive.
These were so cheap, I don't see a cost issue.

Really! I LOVE AR coated lenses, for the greater clarity, lack of reflections,
better contrast, etc. When I put on my
first pair, I felt as though a veil had been removed. Without the hard coating,
the plastic is too easily scratched for me.
I've had no trouble cleaning them.

So does the label. That still doesn't say how it may or may not differ from a
medical wipe.

Ah. My bottle of cleaner is made in Cleveland, Ohio, the wipes in Orangeburg,
NY.

This is not really about hardness, but about chemical resistance. AR coatings
on eyeglass lenses are susceptible to
damage by ammonia.
I believe the wipes are aimed primarily at eyeglasses.
