Subject: [OM] [IMG] Dust Storm in Tempe, AZ
We had a dust storm come through here around 5:30 this afternoon.
We've seen far more of these than average for the past couple of years. Here's
two photos taken in the street in front of my home:

For both of these photos I kept the aperture and speed set to what
would be normal daytime settings so you can see how much the sunlight is masked
out. In the second photo, looking west, you can almost see the sun in the
upper right-hand corner. Visibility at this point is less than a tenth of a
mile.
This storm is actually quite mild. We had one earlier this year where
the visibility was down to less than 75 meters and you could only make out the
outline of the house across the street. Due to the lack of rain this past year
(I've only measured 0.50") there is plenty of dry, fine material available for
events such as this.
Save your Fritos! Corn is going to get really expensive.
