The flash is certainly an odd little thing. Personally, I'm happy that they
didn't compromise the camera
size/weight/design for a built-in flash.
The flash itself is a tiny thing, but works fine. But to put it on, one must
pull off three rubber and plastic covers,
and replace when done. Fortunately, the little velvet bag for the flash will
keep the covers safe in one place, and
velcro onto a camera strap.
