No, the Epson does not by any stretch of the imagination achieve
6400DPI, it's purely marketing baloney. I use a V700, and both my (and
countless others') experience will attest that there is no real
additional information extracted (i.e. no difference from a 3200DPI file
uprezzed - and that's if you're lucky, it's more like 2400DPI).
Still nice scanners (especially for the price) though... I have not
heard anything of the new scanner you linked to, might be interesting
indeed.
