I never heard that. I hope they are designed by engineers. I never
like those cars that supposedly have seats designed by orthopedic
surgeons on the principle that I would not like having engineers doing
orthopedic surgery while the surgeons are busy designing. It's a
principle that is bad for the universe, and those seats always hurt my
back too.
First problem is that I think you guys might be confusing "scene" modes
with PASM modes. I'm not sure. I don't use the scene modes.
Switching among PASM modes preserves the apertures as much as possible
between changes. If I am at f5.6 in A and switch to M, I am at f5.6 and
whatever shutter speed it was at the last time I was in M mode. Switch
back to A mode and I am at f5.6. If while in M mode I change to f8,
when I switch back to A I am at f8. If I change stop to f5.6, and then
change to M, stop is at f5.6 but shutter speed is where it was the last
time I was in M. If your favorite camera works differently, I don't
think I want it. What I don't like is having to pass through S to get
to M from A and vice versa. My Canaan is better in this regard. But in
the scheme of things, it is two clicks instead of one and I don't even
think about it anymore other than to find something to complain about.
