I've had a suggestion off-list about how I could improve on my last effort.
So I've taken a few more. At the moment the moon is like a gigantic mirror
reflecting sunlight right back to earth. The last shots I took were when the
moon was appreciably smaller, and while the sky was very light. I could
control the exposure using exposure compensation.
For the last shots tonight, in the dark, minus 5.0 was not enough, so I had to
recall how to get the E-3 into Manual Exposure setting ( impossible via the
menu - go to the mode button on the left) and I ended up getting what looks
like a decent exposure at 1/400 sec, ASA100, f/6.
Talk about "the light of the silvery moon', that's what it is tonight.
Clear night, should be another sharp frost. Just a week after the shortest
day, this morning it was minus 6 deg C at 9 am, Clear sky after the fog
lifted. Unfortunately, no hoar frost worth mentioning.
For the last shot I recorded uncooked (RAW) as well a jpeg. I don't know if I
will bother fiddling with the RAW file as usually I can get most of what I was
using JPG in FastStone.
I may not manage to get the file(s) on my web-page before the next Digest
comes out. I have a few domestic chores ...
