Monarchs are often good sports and will not infrequently return to the same flower if disturbed. I like to be ready and stay focused and alert even if Mr. Monarch flittered away. I like the composition of the 3rd shot. The distal wing could be a tad sharper. Buddlea are nice B'fly magnets but if they are not on a bloom near an edge it seems difficult to get a nice shot w/o a busy background. We planted State Fair Zinnias along a retaining wall which overlooks a woods about 60ft away. It is a good place to hang out in the late afternoon if the Monarchs are visiting. Stopping down then does not yield a busy background. Monarch shots with no flaws are still a challenge. Dean has some. I don't think AF is an absolute necessity as long as one is armed with a nice OM kit. http://tinyurl.com/73tvcln Still chasing 'em and trying, Mike -- _________________________________________________________________ Options: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/listinfo/olympus Archives: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/private/olympus/ Themed Olympus Photo Exhibition: http://www.tope.nl/ |
