Glass, or glassless mounts? Glass will inevitably reduce sharpness. Even if
plain glass, the addition of 4 refraction
surfaces has an effect. IF anti-Newton Ring glass, the glass finish/surface
itself reduces detail. Yes, I've researched
and tested with glass.
I've never figured out why Nikon couldn't/didn't design a lens for their
scanners with sufficient DOF for normal curve
in a mounted slide. Canon did, and I don't think their lens designers are
better. Minolta had the same problem.
