I'm on the second set on our 89 Volvo 740 wagon, and they are fine in hot
weather, but collapse in cold weather. I solved the problem by wrapping a
small rubber band around each jaw of a wooden clothes pin to add friction,
and snapping the pin on the piston rod to hold the hatch up.
