Ahhhh. Real suet....childhood treat....Spotted Dick (Andrew F will be along
shortly) steamed suet roly poly made with currants and sultanas. Served with
real custard, although much better the following morning cut into 1" slices and
fried until golden brown in best butter!!
Traditional Cornish pasties use swede, potato,onion and beef, seasoned with
salt and pepper. Recent additions include Stilton cheese! What is "rutbaga?"

I was introduced to pasties by my maternal grandfather, who worked the
copper mines
in the UP (Houghton area, as I recall.) He swore that REAL pasties were
made with
rutbaga and real suet, along with good beef and potatoes... and best eaten
cold
with a lot of vinegar (to cut through that solid grease.) Yummy!
