I have vivid memories of being out in a farm field with my telescope on
night in 1968. I just happened to look up when I saw a bright light
directly above that very quickly started glowing brighter and brighter.
Then it suddenly "exploded" just like a flash bulb and lit up the entire
country side as far as I could see just like it was daylight. It must
have been a bolide coming straight down toward me. An amazing flash but
no sound.
