That's why I dumped dsl and the telco for cable internet. The drop came off
a pole close to the house, from wires and terminals that were installed in
the seventies. Many times a tech would go up and screw things down tight and
put in a work order for the terminal block replaced, but you all know what
happened then... A neighbor required four phone lines, and it took months
for the extra wires to be installed from a half mile away, this in a dense
urban area within less than a mile from the central station. But, still,
even in affluent new areas where all lines are buried, they only put in
cable for two lines per home. Guess they plan on the migration to cell
phones. AT&T sucks. So did SWBT.

Not too unusual. Standard fair. Two minutes at the outside NID and a
good tech will be able to isolate the problem to a pretty close range
of distances.
