Yes, as Moose advises.
A young (28-30) colleague of mine has just married (a Maryland girl) and is
considering starting a family. I felt it my duty to advise him that his life
would change irrevocably and for ever.
But I also advised him that it would be wonderfully rewarding to be a parent
and to have close friends for the remainder of his life.
Likewise, my son and daughter-in-law have been going through something of a
trial with a brand-new daughter (born in November last year) with a 2-year old
to cope with; they are starting to see the other side of the chasm, although of
course more trials are to come.
