Hi all...
After duly noting my 80th birthday passing this past fall, I've been trying to
take a realistic approach
to life and start thinning out the "treasures" that woulod otherwise end up at
Goodwill.
I have a sizeable collection (30+examples) of original newspaper comic strip
artwork, aquired when I
worked for the Chicago Sun-Times back in the early 70s.
They range in size and complexity - single gag cartoons by Virgil Partch
(Vip), editorial carttons, special drawings
of Pogo by Walt Kelly, and Dennis the Meanace by Hank Ketchum, daily strips
like Mark Trail and Penny, Sunday
art of B.C. by Johnny Hart and beautiful Al Williamson renderings of
along-gone adventure strip and even some
little-known original art feature in color from Peter Max.
Some of these are dedicated to me, most of these are unframed, and some of the
others may show a little grime
from way too many career moves (Chicago, Miami, Seattle, DC).
My thought is to shoot with the E-1 and my 50/3.5 OMZ macro. I would welcome
your input on lighting, and any
ideas on filtering or post- processing.... noting that my computer skill are
limited at best, and my programs are
the freebies.
I would appreciate any thoughts on marketing this material, preferably as a
batch - /And please don't say ebay!/
I'm wondering if ant of you have had any experience with the large auction
houses, like Christie's?
And whether they would respond to an e-mailed inquirey - with an an inventory
and a few photos attached.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer,
Rick
