I forgot to mention another improvement in the S100 over the S95, a built-in,
3-stop ND filter.

Excellent question - and one I've been avoiding addressing - up 'til now. :-)
Of the many differences between G11 and S100, the first two in favor of the G11
are the articulated screen, which I
love, and closer focus at a longer focal length for macro.
Things that are important to some others, hot shoe and tunnel vision finder,
aren't of use to me. I've only used the hot
shoe to hold a piece of plastic that keeps it from snagging on things and only
looked through the viewfinder a couple of
times when it was new. Honestly, I forget it's there.
Lens coverage is a toss-up, both 5x, 24-120 vs. 28-140. S100 is faster from
about 24 to 45-50 mm and the G11 after that.
I think the wider range and faster lens at the wide end is better for me,
maybe. Neither is fast at the long end, anyway.
It's not night and day, but S100 IQ is better in every way I'm aware of and the
much smaller size and weight are a big
plus. I think I'm going to like the control ring around the lens. (Of course,
the G12 has a DSLR style front control
wheel.)
Slightly less important, maybe, is video. G11 video is toylike compared to the
S100. A few moments after the shot of the
ant, I took a short video. I don't know if it is the same ant. :-)

I don't yet know, but I suspect the S100 will supplant the G11.
