Still have a few mercury batteries 1.35v . Perhaps the recent OM1N has been
adjusted for 1.5v. will investigate further.

Asa plate is probably in the correct position.  Shifting it is never the 
procedure for adjusting a meter and will affect the last asa position at 
the other extreme.  A correct 1.35V battery?
