WAMP;
Thanks for all the messages, which I will work through.
However, as I thought about them, I realised that the reason that WAMP
came into existence; Creator Romain Bourdon and Maintainer /
Upgrade/Roadmap Herve Leclerc - herve.leclerc@xxxxxxxxxxx
was to cut through all the LINUX/UNIX complications and provide a single
over-arching program that set up Apache, MySQL and php as a co-
ordinated integrated system.
So I have dug into the file directory and found the file wampmanager.exe.
I put a shorcut of it on my PC desktop. It is a bit of a trick to use; the icon
appears in the tray at the bottom right, and all it takes to get it going is
just
ONE click on that item. Two clicks don't do it. Then comprehensive menus
appear for MySQL and php. In PHP-MyAdmin it invites setting up a MySQL
database and gives advice on access.
My pages are at a site in Singapore which offers a lot of services and the
cost is excellent, Cyber Ultra Network. Check it out.
Anyway, finding wampmanager.exe was like a light at the end of a tunnel.
It does seem that there is an integrated system, and when I find enough
time I will explore further.
I haven't ignored your advice, but at least understanding this should help.
By the way, I do not like what I have seen of some of the commercial sites
mentioned. Smugmug is abominably slow, and not picking on Boris at all,
but the site he uses is worse by a country mile.
Brian Swale.
