I've gone beyond, I'm afraid, Joel.
I sold my E-3 and lovely lenses for a K-5 and assortment of lenses. I kept an
E-PL2 for a few months but decided it was merely diluting my creative effort
(and funding) and I've just sold that, along with its viewfinder and Panny
20/1.7. My compact camera is the G12.
I decided against the E-5 because of the price, but the K-5 is an amazing
shooter in a wide range of conditions: its high ISO performance is very good.
It is also small enough for my needs as well as having a degree of
weather-proofing.
I felt a little sad at going away from the Olympus brand; I even considered
swapping my G12 for a ZX-1, but decided against it.
There is a lovely little panny with a built-in EVF, the G3, which suit your
purposes. It doesn't look as if Olympus will go that way, having brought out a
cheaper version of their VF-2.
If your kit is working for you you probably shouldn't switch . . .
