Thanks for the info. It never crossed my mind to do it that way.

Most of one kind of the subjects I capture will not move through all eternity, 
so it is not a problem. Others; especially hand-held macro or closeup work 
(yes I know I should always use a tripod but I don't always); well I'm happy if 
it refocuses. I don't necessarily stand perfectly stationary even though it is 
my goal.

It is (as stated) rare that I am faced with the problem that I had. however, I 
will take the hint and look through the manual. I DO know where it is !!
