Hi,
I've been on and off the Olympus Mailing List since maybe 1995. You lot are a
list that I remember fondly. I'm now going to sell off my final pieces and I
wondered if it was considered okay if I would offer them here first. Of course,
at a good discount compared to what I will ask for them on eBay. There is only
one lot consisting of an OM-3, a 90/f2 and a 50/f1.4.
It's been a pretty tough decision. I could hold on to them longer: they are
really a great combo and I've been using the OM-3 since 1997. If I compare the
build quality and the ergonomics to anything I've held in my hands afterwards,
I can only be astonished. For me, nobody ever got closer to nailing the perfect
camera than Olympus with the OM-3 and OM-4 (and the Ti versions of these). And
those two lenses, I know them so much better than anything else I worked with.
When a friend asked me to do his marriage, the obvious choice was the OM-3 +
50/f1.4 and 90/f2 because they just disappear when I hold them.
But the world has moved on and so have I. I have an E-P1 + 17/f2.8 combo now
that I adore and I'll be adding the announced 25/f1.4 as soon as it's available
and I have my hands on the OM sale money. I was considering the Voigtländer
25/f0.95, it's gorgeous too, but it's more expensive and less practical
(particularly size). Money's much more tight now me and my family have
renovated our house, so I can't just splash out on any lens I want like in the
OM days. I just don't use the OM setup anymore. It's a shame, but I'd rather
ship it to another friendly home. I've been a little bit emotional with other
camera sales, but this is probably the toughest.
Peter.
