Piers, this is more complicated than necessary. But, before proceeding
further on connections, let me dispell the old rumors on flash voltage.
The very first EOS digitial body, the D30 (not the same as the more
modern 30D) had a limit of about 6 volts on the hot shoe. Since then
EOS digital bodies are good for up to 250 volts. (still shamed by my
Minolta A1 which is good to 400 volts). And, while there may well be 6
volt T32s, I think all 5 of mine measure closer to 12 volts.
Back to connections: Since the T32s are not being used in TTL mode
there is no need to connect any of the contacts except the main center
contact that triggers the flash. In fact, it won't be possible to
connect the other two contacts since, if not installed in an OM
compatible shoe, the other two contacts are withdrawn into the foot of
the flash. Lowering them into electrical contact requires the recess
that you see in any OM flash shoe.
While TTL auto shoe cords, auto connectors and other OM flash cords
might be handy they are not at all necessary since the center contact is
all we're concerned with. Note the following T32 flash setup:

The T32 on the right is equipped with a T20 autoconnector but not
because it's necessary, just because it was handy. It could also have
been equipped with an ebay shoe adapter as seen on the left which is
probably the same one as seen here:

When this rig is in use the two T32s are connected by an OM TTL cord
but, once again, this is for convenience and not necessity. If I were
to set up this same rig again today I'd likely have a radio receiver
plugged into the PC connector on the ebay hot shoe adapter on the left
and the right flash would be connected either with the OM TTL cord to
the other T32 or it might be setting on top of an optical trigger as
seen here. It will fire if its window is pointed into the umbrella.

and here
<http://cgi.ebay.com/SYK-3-Optical-Slave-Trigger-Hot-Shoe-Flash-/320666735678?pt=Camera_Flash_Accessories&hash=item4aa93a143e>
Also, don't forget that, since we're only concerned with the trigger
contact, any better quality EOS body will also have a PC connector in
addition to the hot shoe which then allows PC cables.
There are probably 1,000 ways to connect T32s to digital camera bodies
or even fire them without physical connections. Use the OM TTL cables
and connectors if you have them but don't make a special effort to
procure them as they are most definitely not required.
