Awful word - the proper term in the antique industry is 'distressing'. It
involves things like whacking a table with a chain in a sock to make it look as
if it's been well used for a couple of hundred years.
This is dreadful - it looks fake as the brassing does not mimic the real thing
at all. Worse given that it can't be done to the baseplate (not brass AFAIK).
And the paint does not have the dulling you'd expect.
This is a fine exercise in expensive self-abuse.
