Ken Norton recently posted:
"Most people don't realize that every body of water has a very slow
slosh."
This slow slosh is called a seiche. See
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seiche>. I've only noticed one once in my
life, on a long lake in northern Minnesota after a strong rain/wind
storm. The lake level did a periodic up and down, which was very
noticable on a dock that extended into the lake and was partly submerged
at its far end. The lake level advanced and retreated on the dock.
Very cool.
