I have done so, Chuck.
But before I finally rejected the P7000 I had received a reply from Nikon UK
telling me that the files were large and that I could work around losing the
monitor's grid when going for AF. That indicated a lack of appreciation of my
problem or it was a politician's answer.
Then, in the shop (Digital Depot, in Stevenage) I checked the write time of RAW
files on the G12 to my SD card (a Class 10) and it was lightning-fast (just
over a second, I reckon).
So I paid the extra for the G12 and it feels like the right decision :-)
