Olaf,
give me a day or two...I am sure I have some 1/4" BSW Taper taps
amongst
my engineering kit. If you are tapping a "through hole" you will not need a
plug
or bottoming tap. I am Very busy today but will look tomorrow and get straight
back to yo.

Hi John (and others),

Thanks; so I have been pointed out off-list too. ;)
It was at the link that Google produced for me that someone wrote it
was a US size. :O
Anyway: Piers Hemy is going to send me some bolts and nuts today, so
that should be covered. In order to make the strip nicely screw into
the tripod's thread, a proper "wire thread tap" (what are these called
in English?) would be handy, but I suspect those might be expensive,
so perhaps we have to make-do there using some form of improvisation.
Cheers,
Olafo
