Pistol - highest score wins. That's legit.
Synchronised swimming - a universal joke.
If you can win at a mental challenge, you're bright enough to be satisfied
without a medal or publicity. There are plenty of opprotunities anyway. the
best televised quiz shows offer no prize beyond a small trophy and public
acknowledgement (i.e. Mastermind).
Ballroom dancing - OK, why not ballet dancing then? Requires a much higher
level of grace, control and physicality.
Because once you introduce marks for 'style', objectivity is defenestrated.
That scuppers a lot of gymnastics, ice sport and even diving and ski jumping.
