We have a lot of yellowjackets around here and they tend to get 
aggressive in late summer. They really like to eat the fruit and meat. I 
was sitting in the yard drinking my morning coffee and reading a couple 
of days ago when one tried to make off with a piece of my ear, However I 
generally tolerate them unless a nest is too close to a path. The reason 
is that they are great scavengers. In the evening I can sit and watch 
them take mosquitoes and termites in flight. If i hit a nest with the 
lawnmower the trick is to stop right on the nest and leave the mower 
running. :)
