It can still be a problem, David and Chuck. Even if you have DHCP running
(allocated by the gateway), the subnet mask can be wrong and inhibit
connection. Indeed, DHCP can cause the problem and you sometimes have to
allocate IP addresses and masks manually.
So, it's worth checking that each component of the LAN is using the same subnet
mask (mine is 255.255.255.0)
