I shouldn't think that PS is necessary, John, although transferring the licence
would be useful. I have Pixelmator as a PS replacement; it's not nearly as
capable yet, but I don't doubt that it will get there.
For most of my image editing and cataloguing I use Aperture v3. It's a hugely
capable application, with plugins to take care of non-native operations.
You could easily try it with little effort: www.apple.com/aperture
