RT stands for "Real Time". Instead of the standard flip up reflex mirror the RT used a beam splitter called a "pellicle mirror". The pellicle mirror is stationary. Since there was no moving mirror the shutter didn't have to wait for the mirror to go up and it could just fire instantly. In a conventional SLR the mirror hitting the top of its travel is what releases the first shutter curtain. The second curtain closing is what releases the mirror to come back down and that in turn releases the wind lock. That's also why you can't wind on an OM whose battery has died and left the mirror in the up position (by design). <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS_RT> Chuck Norcutt AS wrote: > What is "EOS RT"? > > > > -- _________________________________________________________________ Options: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/listinfo/olympus Archives: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/private/olympus/ Themed Olympus Photo Exhibition: http://www.tope.nl/ |
