The release button is the same size as on a lens. With the tripod mount next to
it, it may be a little hard to get to for someone with large hands so I can see
why they would take the spring out. Just watch if you use the body to line the
photo up --------- it might fall off!

I have just bought one of these from eb*y and saw this comment. I know I
should have checked here first but I didn't and I don't remember anyone
mentioning this, is this statement correct or have I just bought a
useless item
