Screw-mount Leicas require a film 'leader' about twice as long as
normal - they are a bugger to load. To help, Leica made a template
called an ABLON (once every Leica product had a five letter code and
Oh there were a lot of them). It was a flat, slotted metal device that
you could slip the film end into and simply trim by running a knife
around the edge. Of course, original ABLON's now command a good price
so you can get reproductions and recently I saw someone selling little
leather pouches for them out of China.
