Somebody ( I haven't figured out who) asked
> What is your favorite 3 lens lineup for the OM system and why?
My sole favourite lens is the Zuiko 35 - 105. With that one I can cover
practically everything I like to photograph, and it even does macro - of a sort
- but in my experience not very sharp macro.
I don't "do" people photographs ( what would I do with them?) and prefer
landscapes and buildings. And I generally don't "do" low-light photography,
so whether or not a lens is fast doesn't matter a lot to me.
If I were "required" to add two more lenses they would be in the range 21 -
28mm, to augment the 35-105. In my experience, I've needed specific
reasons to carry along anything over 100mm on a long trip. The use that
long lenses get is generally minor or none (excepting purposes identified
beforehand).
I'm bemused by the suggestion that an OM + one lens is too heavy for
carrying onto a plane when the carry-on weight limit is something like 7 kg.
I have taken MANY good photos with the OM + 35-105 combination through
plane windows and never been challenged once. Mind you, as I say that, I
realise that I have hardly travelled by air at all since the 11/9 catastrophe,
and all the travel restriction nonsense that has been imposed since.
I guess it might be useful to have a record of the weight, to have at hand.
Brian Swale.
