The honeymoon is over and I am wondering if I made a mistake, for the
first time since using digital I have had dust specs on my last images,
this may be due to not habitually switching the camera off so the sensor
cleaning was not operating often enough - the E-3 sleeps and I need to
flick the power switch which activates sensor cleaning. Ok thats not so
bad but I have found out that I have also been expecting too much from
high iso (which is still noisy even on the 5D2 at 6400) and it meant I
bought a 580ex flash to help and also I am having trouble manually
focussing on the kids - which means maybe I should have just bought an
FL50 for the E-3 and a 50-200 instead of the 5D2.
However I have still not had time to really play with it and get used to
it so I am not giving up on it yet, I like the results from the OM glass
on it especially seeing proper depth of field again and the colours are
very nice, maybe now aperture allows raw and jpeg pair import I will
reduce the disk space the images seem to eat up.
One thing it has taught me is that I need to look more to myself than
the equipment which is surely a good thing and it has taken me too long
to realise.
