Yes I can lighten the shadows, though they get kind of grainy. NN seems
to help a bit, without "smearing" too much. You are correct, the eye
could see much more than the scan showed. With the atmospheric pollution
in Beijing, there's quite a glare even when it's overcast. A challenge
for metering.
