The thing is, my main focus with these images are prints,
specifically, darkroom prints. They are meant for a portfolio review
in Jan 15.
The web image is, as long as it is decent enough to solicit comments
(yea, that one is crap, this one has potential...), I'm OK.
I am not interested in squeezing out the best out of a scanned B&W
neg, because I am not interested in printing these on the inkjet.
Reasonable people know that web pic != darkroom print so I'm not too
concern there either.
Having said that, I will "star" your message below for reference, the
next time I scan. I do crop because color balance.
