I sure hope you are right... But as a pessi.. umm... realist, and
looking
at what Olympus has done over the past year or two, I very much doubt
it.
They certainly have the potential for "wow"ing the world with a new
system similar in scope - and maintaining the values - of the OM system,
but from the same company that produced the M.Zuiko 17mm f/2.8 as
their first
Micro Four Thirds prime lens, and as a lens+body which is constructed
100% of
plastic internally with metal plates tacked on for visual / haptic
goodness, I very much doubt it.
Let's wait and see. But I would be surprised if they manage at all to
produce
something which you as photographer can "become one with" in the same
way we
can with an OM-1/2/3/4 body.
I get the feeling Olympus is no longer interested in producing compact
cameras for
serious photographers, in the way they used to. I am afraid that only
Leica fills
that niche currently, although some of the Panasonic offerings do
warrant attention.
Panasonic seem to be much more serious about putting a decent range of
lenses in
place for the M4/3 format.
But maybe... just maybe, we might by pleasantly surprised by Oly.
