Thanks for the serial nos. I think Charlie's black nosed 1106xx is the first
specific instance of an inconsistent serial number which wasn't down near
100,000 that I've heard of. I've seen perhaps a half dozen apparently early
black nosed MC lenses whose serial number was down near 100,000 when their
continuous range seems to be much higher. The 24/2.8 having the most that
I've seen.

I pulled out my 200/5 to check. It is a black nosed but with a serial
number smack in the middle of the posted silver nose range (1106xx).
