I couldn't tell you exactly where it is but the owner of the B&B where we
stayed gave us directions. He told us to drive an exact odometer reading
past a certain landmark and to pull over. There was a small set of wooden
steps leading down to small beach set between large rocks. IIRC it was sandy
at the top but the rest covered by small to medium water-worn pebbles that
made a very musical sound in the surf. The place used to be on the park map
but was removed after tourists started removing lots of rocks. And yes I did
take one...only one. In fact it is sitting on the computer right in front of
me. I made a promise to myself that if I ever go back to Acadia I will
return it to the beach...in exchange for another.
