I don't think they had a poor reputation "in the day" - I think these
were started
on internet forum postings, based on people using abused older
equipment, etc.
I myself certainly need no convincing, I am (sometimes, for carefully
made images)
getting clean 60 Megapixel scans from mine with technical image
quality not approachable
with current DSLR systems. Even better, my scans look much worse than
my optical
B&W prints, where it really shines.
I can recommend the beast to anybody wanting to step up from current
smaller formats.
I personally go through phases, from where I almost exclusively use
the Mamiya, to other
times when it's nothing but OM. Both are absolutely sweet.
People look at you funny when you walk around or go to a restaurant
with an RB67
casually draped over your shoulder... :-)
