I'm using DVI cable for both my EIZO L568 and Samsung 205BW, there is no
sharpness control on the EIZO but there is one on the Samsung, I have to set
it to "16" to minimize its effect (too low the image will be softened and
two high it is oversharpned). As the sharpness is unable to be totally
neutralized it is very hard to visual the actual gamma value on the Samsung
while there is no problem with the EIZO.
I'm not trying to make the calibration match the print, I try to make it
match my target gamma 2.2 and still be able to differentiate each shade of
grey level difference. The EIZO is rather success in gamma without any
calibration, just use the monitor built-in gamma control set it to 2.2 then
it automatically matched with the test site. I still have problem in
differentiate the darkest two blocks and 254 for the white one. It is ok to
me for now until I have the fund for a pro-EIZO.
