Oh, yes, I do have that book... but I'm not sure about my skills -- a hammer
that close to a glass lens...

Yeah, that's another problem for me :-(

Oh, that shouldn't be a problem... never worked on a Zuiko, but I did
disassemble several OT lenses for repair: fungus cleaning, oily blades and
regreasing helicoid threads -- successfully repaired. So I have some
experience, although it's been a long time since that.

Yes -- in fact, I purchased the lens already "impacted". Despite a bit of
play in the focusing ring, it worked OK before putting it in the drawer...
