I assume that your rear panel sockets are connected to the motherboard
via cable and a multi-pin connector of some sort. I suspect that this
cable or connector have come loose somehow... possibly by accidentally
jostling them while installing the PCI parallel card. I would check the
condition of the wire connections and pull and re-seat the motherboard
connector. Presumably the front speaker connections emanate from the
same connector so check to see what's the difference if any.
I considered (briefly) that there might be IRQ or other interference
with the audio from the new PCI card but I don't know how that could
occur and, given that you have audio out the front, that can't be the
problem. As I said, both front and rear audio wiring should emanate
from the same motherboard connector so the wiring or connector would
seem the likely candidates. My bet is just a loose connector... and
it's probably close to that new PCI card.
