No reason for the sad face. You got it correct the first time. Both
mean the same. The problem is that "got you" can have many meanings.
One is exactly as you thought, meaning "I understood you". But it can
also mean "I caught you" meaning I discovered you in a lie or doing
something you shouldn't have been doing. Thanks, I'll take the first
