CS,
Have you considered adjusting the DPI setting in the video properties rather
than in an individual program? I do this with the high res display on my
Thinkpad. I will state that it does occasionally cause some text width
issues though not anything like the examples you show, and mostly with
program installers from Japan for some reason. I have it set on mine for a
custom DPI of 100 and find that it's the best trade off.

That is an easy question to answer. It is because the default font size
results in text that is far too small to read comfortably on my 1280x800
pixel 15.4 inch laptop screen.
