I've checked in my Shorter Oxford Dictionary and you're right. I tend
to treat Wikipedia as a guide rather than authority, open as it is to
editing by hoi polloi ;-)).
But it says that it's "sometimes" called a catapult in Britain. In my
view it's always called that unless the US term has infected the
community. But I cannot change that "sometimes", even after logging-
in ...
